Boswellia serrata (Salai/Salai guggul) is a moderate to large sized branching tree that grows in Liquid mountainous regions of India, Northern Africa and the Middle East. The family of Burseraceae is represented in the plant kingdom with 17 genera and 600 species wide-spread in all tropical regions.

Nirgundi is a large aromatic shrub found mostly in the warmer zone of India. In Indian traditional medicine system, it is referred as ʽsarvaroganivaraniʼ – the remedy for all diseases. Nirgundi might be helpful in managing diabetes by improving insulin levels due to its antioxidant property. It also helps manage inflammatory reactions by inhibiting the activity of certain mediators due to its anti-inflammatory property.
